Navigating the Mental Health Pressures of an Acting Career: The Importance of Therapy and Emotional Support

During thousands of client hours over more than 20 years in practice, Sally has developed the most effective ways of working to resolve and release whatever is stopping her clients from fulfilling their full potential. She also teaches powerful self-help therapeutic approaches to improve and maintain on-going positive mental health. Her clients present with a wide range of issues from general anxiety as well as performance anxiety, addictions/compulsive behaviour, coping with online bullying and managing social media, eating disorders through to trauma and PTSD.

Sally worked as a journalist in the 1980’s in the film and television industry. She started on Screen International Magazine before working as an Editor launching several other film industry titles. She then moved into film production as a line-producer with a leading Visual Effects Supervisor before taking a management role at a film and TV production and post-production company.

Since retraining as a therapist over twenty years ago Sally has written three books on different aspects of therapy published by Hammersmith Books, London. She is regularly invited to speak and lead workshops on resilience, achieving peak performance and how to overcome limiting negative beliefs.

Because of her therapy work, she is often in demand for her expert opinion on human behaviour and is frequently quoted in the international press, magazines, BBC Radio and influential on-line media platforms.

With her many years of working in film production, Sally recognises the pressures on actors when in front of the camera and the duty of care responsibility of the production company. She also understands the psychological demands of an acting career and the challenging impact it can have on an actor’s personal life.

"Therapy isn't for everyone but if you've tried everything it could just be what you need. It's always worth a conversation to find out."
